RockStarAlley will be back in the New Year!

Please post a comment here if you would like to discuss this game. I will be rolling out a new version at some point around the New Year, so please let me know what you would like to see.

I will be working on version 2.0 over the holidays. Happy Festivus to everyone!

Better and better!

I've heard from many of you, and what I've decided is to build RockStarAlley 2.0 as a Facebook game. This way, I can kill the whole signup piece and just leverage your Facebook user. Sweet!

RockStarAlley will be back, better than ever in Spring 2009.

The Final Tally

While you are waiting

and you may read about the saga below

if you care. Does anyone care?

Clearing the Record - Truth Matters

Krister - Since you have not responded to my private communication, I'm taking the step of responding publicly. As I'm sure you know, your characterization of your interaction with Joyent is blatantly untruthful. You were not forced to change hosts - you did not respond to multiple attempts over a month's time to contact you regarding the past due balance, and you quickly escalated our subsequent effort to resolve the matter reasonably; you asked for time to migrate your svn repo, and then an hour later, in a fit of pique, you actually told us to go ahead and delete your data. Moreover, the account is merely locked, and the data is available to you - and your users - as soon as you bring the account up to date. We retain data for 30 days after an account is cancelled, and clearly stated so to you. The record is clear:

pps

Extra points for using the word 'pique'! How a propos. I had to look that one up.

thanks for clearing that up

I guess the point here is that people actually care about service once it's too late to matter. I think there's a saying that covers it...

A day late and a dollar short?

Happy Holidays everyone!

k

the point here

krister -
that seems like an odd conclusion to draw!

Joyent sucks!

I have just been forced to change hosts and forfeit my database because Joyent is probably the worst possible choice for hosting a Rails application. Their service is about as horrible as it can be, in terms of consistency, as well as in terms of how long it takes to get a reply, and the worst part is that their internal communications seems to be pretty nonexistent. So if you signed up at RockStarAlley after April 2008, I'm sorry but your information is gone. Blame Joyent - I've been shaking my fist all day.

The good new is that RockStarAlley 2.0 will soon be launching. In the meantime, here is the final tally for top scores from this year:

new version on hold

due to the state of the economy.

New Players Allowed

We are again accepting new players, but be aware that sometime over the summer we will be resetting the game and everyone will have to sign up for a new account. There are a few reasons for this, but the most active of the alpha players will be forever immortalized in RockStarAlley 2.0 with a location in Tijuana named after them. More details to follow. As always, thanks for all of your feedback about the game.
